iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper Product Overview

This iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper is a top of the line mat designed to help control litter tracking using a unique two layer design. If you’ve got a cat or cats that are prone to dragging litter all over the place then consider an iPrimio mat. Cats that jump out of the litter box will have a lot of their litter trapped by this mat. I’ve featured it in my top 10 best cat litter mats article for exactly this reason.

If you have a cat that has urine accidents from time to time this model is designed to allow for the insertion of an absorbent pad that can easily soak up urine. The base is also water proof so nothing will leak through onto the floor below.

The mat covers a large surface area and is made of a very durable material called EVA.  It is easy to wash with a hose or a shower head, but do note that the edges are not made to reflect water and will absorb it. This means it may take time to dry if you soak it down.

Another item worth noting is that this is not the type of material that is often used to “grab” at litter from the paws of your cat. This means it is nice and smooth and less prone to irritate your cat’s feet ensuring they won’t try to avoid the mat.

The extra large design of the holes also make it a perfect pairing with the CatGenie and since it is easy to dump the granules out of the mat it is easy to retain them.

iprimio cat litter trapper two layer designThe Pros:

  • Large size and extra large holes make it excellent at trapping litter.
  • Two layer design keeps the litter in place and enables you to dump the litter out quickly.
  • The surface is designed specifically to be cat paw friendly.
  • Designed to let you place an absorbent pad in the bottom in case urine is a consistent problem.

The Cons:

  • On the pricier side of litter mats.
  • Doesn’t come with a non-slip bottom included so it can slide around.
  • The edges can get saturated with urine and stink.
  • There are only two colors, beige and black, pretty boring compared to the Easyology Cat Litter Mat.

How to Use It Best:

  • Empty litter from this daily to ensure it doesn’t pile up inside of it, be sure to have your litter box or garbage can handy.
  • Keep an absorbent pad in the middle of the mat if you have a cat that has urine accidents constantly.
  • Set the edge of your litter box on it to keep it in place or get a no slip rug pad to keep it in place.

    • It is specifically designed to be smooth so it doesn’t irritate your cat’s paws.

Compare The iPrimio Mat To Other Top Mats

Wrapping It up:

The iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper is an awesome mat, especially if you’ve got a cat that tends to miss the box with urine or with vomit.  The biggest differentiator for this product is that it is completely waterproof on the bottom, so anything that lands on it will not leak through onto your wood/tile/carpet below.

The other major benefit is the holes are larger than that of the Blackhole Mat so even with larger formats of littler you won’t run into problems.

The biggest drawbacks I’ve noted is that similar to the Blackhole Mat in that it is easy to accidentally dump litter all over the place when emptying it and it is on the pricier side.

This is great idea. I have just been babysitting around my daughters house tonight – she has 3 cats. Something like this would be ideal as one of the cats is very messy.
Great idea about the waterproof base and also great that it’s easy to clean.
I know it says it’s not non-slip but hopefully that wouldn’t matter too much with cats I would hope – would also depend what surface you put the mat on I suppose.
    Very informative post thank you.

You’re definitely right, the cats themselves don’t tend to be too responsible for moving it. And a simple little non stick pad can easily be bought on Amazon or at any kitchen or flooring store to keep it from sliding around. Glad you found it helpful!

My son’s cat is getting on in age and tends to have more accidents recently. It has really become a problem for the carpet and isn’t sanitary for the the babies. Thank you for the insight.

Glad you found it helpful. This should definitely help with the absorbent pad in the middle! Best of luck.

Hey Craig. I never new there were such advanced designs out there for trapping cat litter. Finally, something great at stopping the mess build up in the house. Is this your top recommended product?

    • October 20, 2017 at 11:21 pm

I know right? I didn’t know until more recently there were such advanced cat litter traps. I had always just used a traditional rug and a vacuum to deal with the mess, but it was rather annoying to do it every single day.

It is definitely one of my top products, another is the Blackhole Litter Mat.

This is so cool. My daughter has a cat that likes to jump out of the litter box, and it also has urine accidents now and then. I remember one day it accidentally got urine on the couch. My daughter was furious and threw out the couch. I wish she knew about the iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper. I am sure she will like the features, so I will share this post with her. It is not too late for her to get this top of the line mat.

Very cool! This is perfect for those cats that seem to miss lol. I would imagine it would be real good for kittens too? Personally I would like to pick from a variety of colors, but that is not a big deal. It gets the job done which is what matters!

    • October 22, 2017 at 2:45 am

Yes, many folks owuld prefer multiple colors available. If that’s something you prefer then you can check out the Easyology Mat, it has a bunch of shades to choose from!

Thanks for all the details about this product, it will make me consider owning a cat again, because what made me get rid of my last cat was lots of urine accidents throughout the house, which made me feel so disgusted, and it led me to sending my cat for one of my father’s friends who adores cats.
I’ll probably buy this product first before having a cat at home again, I really love cats but when I think of my last experience with cats, I get discouraged to have one again.
    Thanks for your great review!

Thanks for this detailed information on the cat litter trap. Very interesting. I didn’t know that this existed and I am very happy to have discovered it now, thanks to you. I have a question though, because we have 2 cats of different breeds, one is a Turkish Angora, with very long hair, and the other one is not of a particular breed, but with shorter hair, so my question is:

Will this work on cats that have extra long hair, or is it better suited for short haired cats?

I look forward to your response before placing an order for one of those.

    Best wishes,

    John ツ

Hi John, great question. My personal opinion is that this will end up working better for cats that have shorter hair. Cats with long hair often get litter stuck to the hair in their feet and this particular model doesn’t really ‘grab’ at the litter. It is designed to let letter fall into it. I’d recommend something like the Smiling Paws litter mat for long haired cats.
